Start with Settings → Usage
For Claude Pro, Anthropic documents a session reset every five hours. Its weekly allowance resets on a fixed day and time assigned to your account. There is no single weekly reset hour for every subscriber. Your subscription start date does not set that weekly schedule. Read Anthropic's Pro plan guidance.
WhenResets does not connect to your Claude account or track its live quota. Use the reset time displayed inside Claude for your own next session or weekly refresh.
Which limit are you waiting for?
| Window | What the reset means | Where to check |
|---|---|---|
| Five-hour session | The session allowance becomes available again. | Session progress and reset time in Settings → Usage. |
| Weekly allowance | The weekly allowance refreshes at your assigned time. | Weekly progress and next reset in Settings → Usage. |
Check both windows before planning a long task. A refreshed session allowance does not establish that you also have weekly capacity left. Save the date and time Claude displays, including the timezone, instead of converting a generic midnight rule. These windows describe Pro; check the current documentation for your own plan. Why message counts are not a useful timer
Usage depends on conversation length and complexity, attachments, model, features, and effort level. A short question and a large coding task can consume different amounts. Claude's web, desktop, and Code surfaces share account usage, so switching between them does not create a new allowance. Source: usage and length limits.
A context or length limit concerns how much fits into one conversation. Waiting for a usage reset does not enlarge that context window. Starting a new conversation may help with length, while an exhausted account allowance still needs its own reset or another option offered by your plan. Match your next step to the actual notice you received.
An occasional reset offer is a separate event
Anthropic sometimes offers eligible accounts a reset that can restore the session or weekly allowance immediately. The offer identifies what it affects. It does not move the normal weekly reset schedule. Check Settings → Usage for availability and any expiry, and review the offer before redeeming it: redemption cannot be undone. An offer shown in someone else's screenshot is not evidence that your account has it. If your displayed reset time passes and access still has not returned, record the notice, plan, time, and timezone for Anthropic Support.
